The Czech Republic is poised to make a number of important changes to its Highway Code, which could impact on international hauliers.

With effect from July 1st, trucks greater than 3.5 tonnes in weight as well as articulated lorries with a total length exceeding 7 metres will not be allowed to overtake other vehicles.

Under the new regime, the Czech police will have the power to impound a vehicle, where the driver of the vehicle has been caught committing a serious road traffic violation. The police will also have the power to confiscate the drivers' licence.

All vehicles must have the headlights switch on, during daytime running under the new rules.
